Beef Stroganoff Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500g beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 200g mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Cooked pasta or rice (to serve)
Instructions:
- Prepare the beef: Season the beef slices with salt and pepper. Dust them lightly with flour.
- Cook the beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef in batches and cook until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Cook the vegetables: In the same pan, melt the butter. Add the onions and cook until soft. Add garlic and mushrooms, and cook until the mushrooms are tender and browned.
- Make the sauce: Return the beef to the pan. Add the beef broth and stir, scraping the bottom of the pan. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Finish the sauce: Stir in the sour cream and mustard (if using). Simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Adjust salt and pepper as needed.
Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley and serve over cooked pasta or rice
